dressing, biscuits, baked sweet potatoes (with butter, parmesan and black pepper), gravy, cranberry sauce (with orange zest), and Sicilian eggplant caponata relish. Chilled cava to drink. Pumpkin pie.

There'll be lots of leftovers, especially the caponata. DH won't even try it. I thought it was a bit harsh going into the canning jars, but months later, it's mellowed wonderfully. I'll eat every bit of every last jar...eventually. There's quite a bit.

The only glitch was when I set the neck, wing tips and giblets to simmer in broth and then went to watch the dog show. Afterwards, I scraped the ice off the walk. When I came in, it was to the distinct smell of scorching - the broth boiled away and the giblets burned. I just tossed it all and used another jar of broth to make the gravy. But I hate that I wasted stuff out of a simple lack of attention. Oh, well.

And the dog show is always great. I agreed with the winner, even though it wasn't one of my favorite breeds. God, what a beauty!
