I have a house brand supermarket that offers factory made English muffins. The size rises and falls over about 3 month periods. First up: $1.99 or even $1.49. Large muffins. A month later, full price $2.49 or $2.99, smaller muffins. A month later, smaller yet, $2.99. Next up: coupon! 2 for $2.49, large muffins again. They stimulate demand with low prices and large size, then recoup those costs with smaller muffins in the ensuring months.
