Alan Thicke died at 69. The thing is, with symptoms like chest pain, sweating and vomiting, the first thing doctors will assume is that they are having a heart attack. IF they find the art c dissection is happening, they MIGHT be able to save them in surgery, but usually they don't.

John Ritter's widow, Amy Yasbeck, sued his doctors and the hospital for wrongful death. The hospital settled for $14 Million. The case against the doctors went to trill and the jury sided with the doctors 9 to 3. Even if the AD is diagnosed and the patient goes straight to surgery, they often die anyway.

Playwright Jonathan Larson died of an aortic dissection the day of the first preview of his musical "Rent". He was only 35.
