In reply to the discussion: Joy Reid urges voters to sit out the election if the DNC puts up someone who doesn't share Platner's ideology [View all]Martin Eden
(16,178 posts)60. Joy Reid speaks for herself, NOT for "progressives"
It's getting clearer and clearer that the progressives would rather Republicans keep getting elected, than vote for "moderate" Democrats.
I've been on the progressive side of the Democratic Party since I started voting in 1976, and I will ALWAYS vote for D over R, even if a moderate comes out on top over my favored progressive candidate in the primary.
Because the Republican is always worse.
Of course, I speak only for myself, as does Joy Reid.
Also, of course, there are some progressives who agree with her.
However, if such a thing can be determined, I would bet more progressives agree with me -- especially now that control of the House and/or Senate could make the difference between democracy or fascism -- that getting souls to the polls to put D's in seats is an overriding priority.

OP
This is exactly what I fear will happen. That's how we got Trump delivered to us for another round. Voters sat out.

What a fucking moron. She is an enemy of the Democratic Party and a direct ally to Trump and fascism.

It's clear from his goodbye video he didn't really have a ideology, it was just a dog and pony show to whip up support

So, as long as a candidate uses the correct words like Planter did then let's flock to them

It seems a significant part of the movement wants to defeat Democrats more than Republicans

I've never been a JR fan or Nina Turner fan. This kinda sh*t shows me I was right about Reed.
