25. Social media content is utterly disposable

Can people even remember what they were outraged about last week? Or the week before? Try 3 months ago. What was the major story sweeping social media that everyone had to have an opinion on?

No one knows, because it doesn't matter.

There was a website I can't remember that used to track, "What you cared about last week" and it traced two years of major social media stories. I'd go through it and sees things I'd totally, totally forgotten about and realize, "Oh yeah, I really did care about that at the time!"

It's fun to shoot the shit (the entire reason I'm on DU), but at the end of the day, 99% of the time and effort spent on social media has nothing to do with anything.
