(14,002 posts)34. Tragically true. There may be no recovery from loss of trust.
I don't think we ever recovered the lost of trust we suffered when Bush II turned us into torturing pariahs -- particularly since Obama chose to let the torturers in the joint operations off the hook.
Time will tell if we can regain even 50% of the prosperity we have enjoyed as a nation at the forefront of science, as a reliable trade partner and ally, as a leader in humanitarian aid, and on and on.
