the locality of “local police”. In the current authoritarian, police state deference is given carte blanc regardless of federal, state and local policing abuses by ICE. There are no guarantees of protecting anyone’s Constitutional rights on so many levels. Simply, the prevailing LEO system is rife with compliance for you, but not for them.

For example, first comes the capricious excuse for detainment of a citizen, then the request for I.d. (a presumption that we need to I.d. to satisfy their fishing expedition). Now, the innocence and validity as a person is in question, so the challenge of exerting one’s rights becomes an issue. You are now viewed as obstructing LE. if refusing to give I.d. for simply existing.

Now, up the ante of being viewed as a foreigner child (in this case) here in school illegally, or protesting peacefully against the abuses of ICE and LE generally- see where all this leads in our current meme of all citizens and noncitizens are always viewed with suspicion and automatically a threat to police.

This is a summary why I’m reticent to give additional latitude in many police encounters wherever and for what ever prompts and escalations that repeatedly occur.
