The American RW is not monolithic. It seems like Trump is firmly in control, but actually, his control comes from the fact that, so far, numerous other power centers have found a Trump ascent to their advantage.
But in this period where Trump's health is failing (mentally and physically), obviously there is a lot of jockeying for the inside rail in the post-Trump period. Kirk was one of these players, aligning himself with what, in the past, would have been called "Young Republicans" or junior Nazis in training. That is not insignificant because many consider that to have been the decisive vote in the 2024 election.
But there are other factions. We have Bannon/Miller and the other fully-fledged Nazis, who would have viewed Kirk as a direct rival. We have Theil, Musk and the tech bros who are less political but all about enslaving humanity to their money-making machines. There are the old-money billionaires like Koch, Heritage et al. And there is certainly whatever Putin/Xi/Kim have planned. And of course, the Christo-fascists.
Most of these factions have connections with Putin. Putin need not have personally been engaged in planning for this assassination. But I am sure that Putin's heart is overjoyed today with this new chaos on the anniversary of 9/11. And there certainly are plenty of agents with FSB who could have been involved.
Or it could just be one really messed up guy who became enraged with Kirk's attacks on LGBT. We don't have much reliable information yet, but it is worthwhile to consider the full range of scenarios and people who benefit from Kirk's death. The one group that does NOT benefit from Kirk's death is the LGBT community, because his martyrdom will undoubtedly be used to reach an even greater level of hate against the LGBT community. So let's hope that is not the scenario.
