I wasn't aware that Parnas spoke directly to Zelenskyy. Why would Zelenskyy respond to a hypothetical?

Parnas is saying that Krasnov is going to tell Zelenskyy that the United States agrees with Putin's demands for peace, which amounts to surrendering land.
