In reply to the discussion: Jake Tapper: Biden coverup "maybe worse than Watergate" [View all]karynnj
(60,434 posts)In fact, even the drinking too much was something learned only as Watergate was exposed. My guess is that the rampant Republican corruption since Watergate has made it harder for people to understand why Watergate was a big deal.
My first question is does he see the coverup of Reagan's genuine incompetence a similar problem? If not, why not? There is more likelihood that major decisions were made without Reagan. No one has yet claimed that any Biden position or decision were made by anyone but him ... as always after getting input from those around him. ( Tapper actually turns the fact that Biden created a very good, smooth running staff into something suspicious.)
Even in the wake of the terrible debate, Biden did a few public press conferences, that he had to know would be parsed for any error or misstatement. His foreign policy press conference was impressive in the nuanced, depth and insight of his comments on complex issues. That and the fact that he was personally involved with many world leaders is really more significant than the fact that he didn't recognize George Clooney! Famous as he is, isn't not recognizing a picture of a former wife AND identifying her as a woman accusing Trump of rape far worse! I would also be more concerned if he didn't recognize Harris, Jake Sullivan, Tony Blinken, Obama, John Kerry or long term Senators .... Which has not been accused. Listen to what John Kerry, who I trust as very honest had to say - https://www.thedailypoliticususa.com/p/john-kerry-defends-biden-and-calls?fbclid=IwY2xjawKioEdleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHrfNhaK-sTPq8Qk32TJIc6znlRJAKUF3_RX325Ughb859N8r5L_1mCRTewcc_aem_oseTN-d3ZZP_LqGfCofODA
