Biden could have announced in December 2022 that he would not run for reelection, and we would not be having this conversation, we would instead be looking back at his successes, with no asterisks or qualifiers (well, maybe just one), just his record to serve as his legacy.

Instead, Biden’s choices regarding the 2024 election have made him fair game for criticism of those choices.
