Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., during a Homeland Security Secretary Subcommittee hearing. | Julia Demaree Nikhinson/AP
Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy said theres no doubt that former President Joe Biden suffered cognitive decline in office and that it would have been better for the party if he hadnt run for reelection.
Theres no doubt about it, said the Connecticut senator when asked by POLITICO if Biden experienced cognitive decline as president. The debate is whether it was enough that it compromised his ability to act as chief executive.
Murphy, who is widely viewed as a potential 2028 presidential contender, also said that it would have been helpful to Democrats if Biden had declined to mount a 2024 bid.
I mean, isnt that self-evident? We lost, he quipped. Obviously, in retrospect, we should have done something different. The likelihood is the odds were pretty stacked against us no matter what, but clearly people were looking for change and neither Biden nor Harris were going to be able to offer a real message of change.

OP
It drives me nuts. All the GOP has to do is play videos of Democrats telling everyone how awful

He's my senator and I like him a lot. We don't like what he has to say but he is not our enemy.

He's no longer a Dem contender for '28. He needs to learn to keep his mouth. shut...

There was no vote on sending weapons to Israel. Your senators voted "yes" on a motion to discharge.

Your post is a reasonable response to this issue. But politics, unfortunately, don't seem to be "reasonable."

Dean Phillips was the only Democratic member of Congress with the courage to speak up when it mattered

Phillips was the target of attacks here for daring to mount a primary challenge.

Is Murphy or any other politician (or aide) who are shitting on our last President a neurologist or a gerontologist?

While I tend to agree that Biden should have made his decision not to run before the 2022 midterms,

Why are we disgussing this? What about the obvious mental decline in the current WH resident????

"cognitive decline" is a very broad phrase that Democrats should steer clear of.

It would be so much better if people actually listened to Murphy's whole interview rather than knee jerking
