Both of my primary physicians have been immigrant Muslim women. They both are MDs and Osteopaths. They have been wonderful and seriously advocated for me to get everything they thought I needed. I've found that I prefer women doctors to men. Male doctors tell you, and women doctors listen to you.
About three years ago I started getting sick. I felt like I did when cancer first got me. All the male doctors kept saying it was UIs, I was almost at cellulitis once, but the men kept pushing UI treatments. My doctor decided nonr of it was working that what my Brigadier General Urologist prescribed was NOT the right medication. She fought for a contagious disease specialist, got me hospitalized for a bunch tests preceded by 15 tubes of blood including two that looked like a pint. For the previous eight or so months I had had Brucelosis. After about three months of a lot of antibiotics it appears I am over it. Have no idea whatsoever where I might have gotten it. But it kicked the snot out of me!!!
It slays me when I hear people cry "creeping" socialism, when the US Federal government carries on one of the largest socialized health care schemes on the planet. Let's get more people on it and let those who benefit from our work and purchase, the wealthy, get taxed to pay for it. They maintain their machinery, they maintain their families, their mistresses/lovers, the pets and livestock: take care of us.
