... I remember his breakout role with Dustin Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy. He was also pretty good in Deliverance, with Burt Reynolds. That movie was Ned Beatty's breakout role.
James DIckey, who was the author of the book the movie was based on, was a poet. Deliverance was his only novel. He played the sheriff at the end of the film. Apparently, he was such an unholy pain in the ass that he was banned from the set!
It's funny that I can remember movies I saw 50-odd years ago, but why I went downstairs... nope. Gotta come back up to remember. Oh, right. COFFEE!
