People have different definitions of selfish. For some people a person who gives time at their church, or money to their friends, or helps their family is unselfish.

To me, someone who helps the desperately impoverished, the mentally unstable, the socially outcast, and helps them quietly, genuinely trying not to be found out, those people are unselfish.
