Could they possibly give for blocking a state's criminal investigation?

Answer: not a good one.

The thing I don't understand and should be worrying, is that they cannot permanently block this stuff. At most, maybe, for two more years but that's it.
They act as if they will never be discovered or have to face justice for anything.
That is the part that has me concerned.
