I live about 275 miles from the Mexican border. We used to see the occasional automobile with Mexican plates a couple of decades ago, although this became rare after 9/11 and rarer yet after the voting chumps went in for the blowhard in the suit.

I speak a little Spanish, but never put in much effort to seek out Mexican radio or TV for their news casts. I suspect that good journalism is far more difficult south of the border, where the Cartels long ago overwhelmed Mexico’s civil and legal structures and good journalists risk dying early. I fear there’s a LOT of self-censorship in their media.

As for the folks from the Great White North, I fully understand why they’re choosing to stay away. If I was a Canadian snowbird and the Florida hotel where I usually stayed asked me why I wasn’t there this year, I’d send them a card showing What’s-his-name’s face captioned “That’s why.”
