Not all that long ago . . . in 1962, the standard art history textbook [View all]

History of Art by H. W. Janson, and subsequent editions published through the mid 70's, no women artists were listed.

I watched my art history major roomies studying their texts, and it struck me then that the world must be devoid of women artists.

1962 is in the lifetime of many American women.
