(10,164 posts)28. It's an internet thing, IMO.
        Very few popular forums online are as closely moderated in terms of the use of such language as DU is. Not all are as over-the-top as, say, 4chan, but you still read words like those quite commonly. I think that's produced a degree of desensitization in a lot of people, and that leads to greater use of those terms.
An inevitable downside to the increase in freedom of expression that our ever-increasing immersion in the online world creates? I hope not...but I think only time will tell.
