Especially if I could have buttonholed any of the faculty re. student research positions.

The hard part for me was that I didn't normally cook, and had no food stored up. Someone who did walked me through the snow to a local grocery store. And the dorm next door had a cafeteria, which did open back up. So I got off pretty light.
