I'm thus familiar with the tenets of that religion.

One of the surest paths to atheism is to compare the tenets to the practice by its adherents.

When for emotional reasons I struggled with my atheism as a young man, I read a lot of Alan Watts. A remark of his has always stuck in my mind which I may be paraphrasing was that "Rather than adopt tge religion of Jesus, Christians chose a religion about Jesus.

I'm not sure a historical Jesus actually existed but if he did, the tales about him are historically inaccurate to be sure. That said, nothing demonstrates the shallowness of that faith and its principles as does the association of its adherents to the likes of the orange pedophile.
