1. Some of us just weren't cut out for religion.

I was raised by Christian parents, who had Christian parents, all of the people who surrounded me were Christians, I was Baptized in a Southern protestant religion, I was forced to go to Sunday School every week, but I never really "believed." It just made no sense to me, even as a child. I left religion behind long before high school and have not suffered a bit from the abandonment, and I believe that it has made me a better man. I am not forgiven for my sins against my fellow men, so, in order to live with myself, I have to pay attention to the pain that I may cause others. I have plenty of anxiety, guilt and fear to satisfy my needs without religion.

I have accepted that I just have one go-round, that that death is the natural order of things. I don't fear death so I do not need the promise of "everlasting life." I do not desire immortality, even in paradise.
