They made it up themselves, taking and keeping what they liked (mostly the punitive stuff of the Old Testament) and threw away the parts they didn't like, as in most of the New Testament. Between these, they created their own ideas from interpretations given to them by preachers and others in authority. They really should write their own bible... unless trump's bible already does it for them.
