Common sense is quite uncommon, really. That's the cause of many ills of society.

More's the pity. Still, the principle of reciprocity, if thought about before taking any action, would eliminate most of those ills. That's what Jesus supposedly said, along with almost every other philosopher and man-made deity who was used to present common-sense rules.

Reciprocity as an ethical guide is almost universally stated.
