Francoeur plays pizza-delivery man for A’s fans [View all]
OAKLAND, CALIF. -- Food for all.
Royals right fielder Jeff Francoeur cemented his bond Wednesday afternoon with the Bacon Tuesday group of As fans who populate one section along the right-field wall at the Coliseum by popping for 20 individual pizzas.
Francoeur also sent an autographed bat to the group.
Baseball is fun, he said. We can take it too serious sometimes. This is something more than just baseball. The (fans in that) right-field section are here every game. They cheer for every (Oakland player). They are diehards. I just enjoy them out there.
Clubhouse personnel delivered the pizzas in the first inning.
Its a lot of fun, Francoeur said. You dont get to build relationships like that every day. This relationship started last year when Francoeur tossed the group, whose members feast on various bacon-related delicacies each Tuesday, a ball with a $100 bill attached to it and told them to buy some beer to go with their bacon.
