THIRTEEN Shutouts. And he had 28 complete games! His strikeout to walk ratio was >4.
Fergie Jenkins had an ERA of 2.4 something and was NOT in the top ten for that stat.
Carl Yazstremski led MLB in batting average with .301. He was the only guy in MLB who hit .300 that year.
That's how dominant pitching was just before they lowered the mound.
