3. Anyone who believes they can "make money" writing poems . . .

. . . might want to learn how to write Greeting Card verse. That's about the only way to "make" it.


I've had enough poems accepted by little literary magazines (some of them paying magazines) to know it's too easy to be published if you know what you're doing. Though I love reading poetry and have an extensive poetry library---accumulated over more than 60 years---and although I've written poems that were published, I'd never say that "Poetry is for poets" because I don't consider myself to be one.
