I want to recommend a series. [View all]

The author is Iona Whishaw. The books are about a woman, Lane Winslow, who moves from England to western Canada shortly after the end of WWII. She'd been a spy during the war, and is more than ready for a change. She rents a house, and not long after a body shows up on her property. I love the book, love the complications.

There are now 10 books in the series, and they have gotten steadily better.

Here's a link to the books: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=books+by+Iona+whishaw

And I feel obligated to say that I went to high school with Iona, which is in part why I started reading them, but even without that connection I'd be recommending them.
