The situation in the emergency reception in Dallas was almost comical. The cardiologist came down and said I was having a heart attack. But they took blood every half hour, and a certain enzyme count that goes way up with a heart attack refused to go up. The cardiologist was getting more and more frustrated. The normal count for this telltale enzyme is 350 or so, and that's where I stayed. Finally, after almost 6 hours, my count went up to 1300. I asked if I should be freaking out at such a jump upward. He laughed and said that at 1300, I was barely on the radar. He said a serious heart attack would register about 9000. Indeed, when I got back to Germany, they checked for heart muscle damage, and none had been none at all.
