8. It is really, really hard

to stay in the room with your pet for some people. My father can't. He adores his cats and treats them really well but it rips him apart when they have to go. I stayed with all three of my cats when I put them down and it was really, really hard. The last one I found a home euthanasia vet and it was the best thing I ever did.

Also, a lot of vets aren't good about explaining it or helping people deal with it. The first cat I had to put down the vet was a complete dick.
