Fixing a vacuum cleaner hose. [View all]

I have a 10-year old upright vacuum cleaner that was purchased at Walmart. Am I allowed to say the brand? It starts with an S and ends with a K.

Over the years, the hose cracked open in a couple places, which Mr. Diamond repaired with some Duct tape.
Recently the hose came apart from underneath the handle. Mr. D found a replacement handle/hose assembly kit for that model vacuum online and sent away for it ($23). I had no idea they sold those but apparently they do.

He was able to replace the handle assembly this morning using just a screwdriver - I watched him do it and I think I could do it myself if I ever need it replaced again. It seemed a shame to throw away the whole vacuum since the suction is still good.

Well I just used it and it works great and I’m so happy we didn’t have to spend $168 on a new one!
