My wife had a taste for steak.
So, I bought two 7-8 ounce filets, and a pound of 16/20 shrimp.
I marinated the shrimp in soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, a bit of red pepper flakes & some salt. Probably an hour after the shrimp was thawed.
I skewered the shrimp and grilled everything.
I made baby carrots boiled in salt water with a caramel sauce.
And I made risotto with Arborio rice. I toasted the rice for about 3 minutes, then used chicken stock as the liquid. Every 3rd ladle of broth I added a shot glass of half & half. I bloomed saffron by putting it in a bit of water in a coffee cup and heated it for 40 seconds in the microwave. The saffron water was added last.
Finally, I made a salad from iceberg (it was on sale for 49 cents a head), beefsteak tomatoes and mozzarella pearls. Just olive oil & red wine vinegar to dress.
The shrimp came out fantastic. Got them off the grill at the exactly right time.
My wife was most pleased!
