While our impact on the universe might not have been newsworthy, we can at least feel assured that whatever it was, was positive and good, unlike someone I can think of.

It would be nice to have the opportunity to find out. As I stated, in my case, the mental issues would be hard to hold when there is proof positive that 'the little voice in my head' is wrong. Without that affirmation... well... just sayin'.

It's definitely better to have been obscurely decent than famously horrible.

True, but those are not the only options. That is part of the issue.

Funeral? I don't even expect someone to say anything about it, much less hold something to mark it. I came into the world useless and that is how I am going to leave it. The task was to do something useful while I was here. Now, there is proof that one single thing that I did actually was useful. Now, I don't have to feel 100% useless when those final breaths come. (Just 99%.)

I guess I have a bit of Klingon in me because I also feel that they body is a shell and once the soul departs, there is little use for it, outside of 'recycling', which I am all for. They're not going to want these screwed up body parts, but I have offered them. I am also thinking about maybe donating it to 'the body farm' at UT (University of Tennessee), since I find that program very intriguing.
