I say do everything you can to live every day to its fullest. And when you find something that you can't do - its up to you how to handle it. Each day is a series of choices and if you can do one thing to make your life happier (ride a bike, garden, etc) then I say "DO IT!"

The first month after I found out I had Diabetes, I cried almost every day. It was overwhelming and I felt a little "poor me" for not being allowed to eat spaghetti and rice and chocolate. 10 years later, I've learned that I can eat anything I want... in moderation. And changing my diet has made things like Snickers bars just too sweet. I don't even like them anymore. I do still wish I could eat a pile of Jasmine rice sometimes but I don't. It's about choices and trade offs some days, but I'm not about to act like I'm dead 40 years before I die.
