The good news is that there's likely nothing wrong with your leg. The bad news is that something is pressing on the nerve root on one side of the spinal cord and they're going to have to figure out what that is and what to do about it. You can expect to have x-rays and possibly an MRI scan.

If it's a bad disc, they'll probably try a course of physical therapy to forestall surgery. If it's something else, they often go right to the surgery.

They've gotten much better at the surgery over the last couple of decades if it comes to that.
