6. I lost a dog to cancer some years ago

She was a big beautiful Samoyed. She suddenly developed a fast-growing mouth and throat cancer that made it hard for her to breathe, let alone eat or drink. She was only 7.

I used to wonder if it might have been triggered by lawn chemicals from drinking in rain puddles and a nearby stream. The dogs we have now are not allowed to drink water from puddles, and I use a Brita filter for their water as well as our own.
