we keep chairs in the back for the newcomers. of course we know they are new by using the chairs in the back and a few of us should converge and welcome him. and if you are 'taking' him, go have coffee somewhere during the meeting. you can stay for the first one if you must but i'd strongly recommend you don't attend most meetings with him.
