Iraq's foreign minister calls for disarmament of 'PKK elements' in the north

1. Pure coincidence that Iraq is home to a LOT of Kurds, of course.

If any of the countries in the region want to solve "the Kurdish question" in any other way than how the National Socialists tried to solve the "Jewish question," what they need to do is what was done in the Middle East in 1948: give the Kurds their own state. As with the formation of Israel, this would necessarily involve nations in the area giving up part of their territory. However, UNLIKE the formation of Israel in 1948, no one would have to do any re-settling to ancestral homelands, since the Kurds have already been living in their ancestral homelands for centuries uninterrupted.

The trouble is, it's a "yeah, right, dream on" issue with the countries in the region. No one except the Kurds seems to think it's a good idea to give up their part of Kurdistan to the Kurds who already live there. The Kurds are spread out over MANY countries, and they have no big, well-organized lobby bringing their plight to the floor of the UN, even though there almost ten times as many Kurds as there are Palestinians.
