But the French government has committed to support building 40 GW of offshore wind by 2050 spread over 50 wind farms.

Apparently, the "path to phasing out fossil fuels which are literally causing the atmosphere's collapse" doesn't just go through nuclear energy, but I have never met an anti-renewable nuclear zealot who understands that an "all of the above" strategy is necessary. A blind fixation on a single technology is essentially a fetish and an amusing spectacle, or perhaps a symptom, but nothing more.
