... of course, reject this treaty out of hand. They will undoubtedly invoke their Gawd-given right to destroy the oceans on which ALL planetary life depends. Not just the fish, you simple minded skidmarks; ALL life. Even yours.
But, but, but... our potential profits are sacrosanct, even if they don't exist yet! Besides, James Watt once said saving the environment for future generations didn't matter because, "I do not know how many future generations we can count on before the Lord returns". His unspoken, but obvious, antagonism toward future generations was probably something along the lines of, "What has posterity ever done for me?"
Steadfast in their belief that there are no earthly limits to their divine entitlement, Republicans, and especially the oligarchs that own them, will soon overstep the limits of the tolerance that decent people have mistakenly afforded them, and the proverbial substance will hit the fan with a resounding splat. Then shit's gonna get real.
