Jaguar owners told to park outside; nearly 3,000 vehicles at risk of fire

Jaguar is telling owners of about 3,000 vehicles to park or charge their cars outside, away from buildings due to a fire risk.
The automaker has recalled some 2019 Jaguar I-PACE all-electric SUVs because the high-voltage battery could overheat, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
The fix will be done in two parts.
In the interim, dealers will update the battery energy control module software. A second, more permanent fix is being developed but has not been released.
Once the repairs are completed, the car should be parked and charged outside for an additional 30 days, the NHTSA said...more

People had to be evacuated from their homes when a fire involving an electric van broke out at a garage.
Firefighters were called to Craig's Motors in Guernsey at about 17:20 BST on Thursday.
No-one was reported to be hurt in the blaze but residents were asked to temporarily leave their homes.
Chief Fire Officer Jon Le Page said he believed it was the first fire on the island to involve an electric vehicle but the cause of the fire was not yet known.

On arrival, crews found a fire in the workshop that had burned through the roof and was emitting a large amount of
noxious black smoke.
