They were in that house illegally for 15 years. What I don't understand is if you're breaking the law, and getting away with it, why would you draw such attention to yourself? He died before he got caught. She probably could have lived the rest of her life, and never been caught if only she hadn't decided to inflict this chaos on her neighbors.
