1. It's not just mRNA vaccines; people with blood cancers don't really respond to any vaccines

Blood cancers are basically cancers of the immune system, and it's your immune system that produces the response to the vaccine and makes it "work."

My late husband had a blood cancer, & his oncologist told him to not even bother getting vaccinated. She explained that since his immune system was now wonky from the cancer, a vaccine wouldn't even really work on him. She just urged us to keep him very safe and away from everyone — and this was for only the flu.

People with blood cancers need to be very, very careful these days.
