These days right-wingers seem to be far less well-read about their source materials and are as prone to practice what they once denounced as “Cafeteria Christianity” as the “liberal” straw- men they condemn.
I admit that I should probably kick in a bit more to local food banks. But I’m under no illusion that private charity could replace the resources of government food programs, a conceit much loved by ideologues, hucksters, ivory tower-dwelling fools, and the scam artists infesting the secular and religious segments of the so-called “Conservative” 
Movement.
