OSU rodeo bull rider dies from injuries suffered in Texas event

An Oklahoma bull rider died Thursday after being thrown from a bull during a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event in Mineral Wells, Texas. ... Rowdy Lee Swanson, 20, from Duncan was competing in the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association's rodeo.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rowdy Swanson at the ProRodeo in Mineral Wells, Texas,” PRCA CEO George Taylor said in a press release. “The hearts of the entire rodeo community go out to Rowdy’s family in this tragic time. We will continue to keep Rowdy and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Swanson was a junior at Oklahoma State University where he was studying animal science. He also was a member of the OSU rodeo team.

“He was a big part of our rodeo family and he will be missed immensely," OSU rodeo coach Cody Hollingsworth posted on social media.
