Christie declines questions at groundbreaking for Morris County medical center [View all]

Governor Christie attended a groundbreaking for a medical center in Morris County on Tuesday, but he declined to discuss sore subjects such as the Bridgegate trial.

Christie has declined to take questions from the news media since the federal trial of two former associates over the George Washington Bridge lane closures began last month.

Lawyers for the prosecution and the defense -- and several of Christie's aides and associates, past and present -- have cast doubt on the governor's statements about when he learned of the lane closures that caused massive traffic in Fort Lee in 2013.

On Tuesday, he was on hand for a groundbreaking for Summit Medical Group in Florham Park. State lawmakers and one of Christie's biggest Democratic allies, South Jersey powerbroker George Norcross, were at the event.
