9. When I lived in Austin during the 90s, a number of my friends went either vegan

or vegetarian. It reached a point that I didn't have any friends that I could share a meal with so it did impact my social life to an extent. Oddly enough, every one of those friends eventually returned to consuming meat after they showed signs of protein deficiency.
