that the median price for a home in the U.S. right now is $375,000. I can't begin to imagine.

I live in Santa Fe, NM, a relatively high home price city. And my modest two bedroom, two bath place is significantly less than that. It is also well below the median home price here which is around $500,000. I bought my small place in 2009, and while it has doubled or so in value, it is still well below our local median as well as the national median.

I do often say that I like my little place, and I can afford it. Plus, living alone means I can live in a much smaller place than someone with a spouse and family needs.
