5. I'm not afraid of "what republicans might do" without the filibuster in place

We can no longer accept elected officials who govern out of fear of “what the republicans might do”- do republicans ever worry about “what the democrats might do”?

Without the filibuster, every bill that makes it out of committee will get an up or down floor vote- no more hiding behind “gridlock”- every senator will be on the record and accountable to the voters for every bill.

If Dems kill the filibuster and expand the court, then govern fearlessly and unhesitatingly, ramming through bill after bill that protects democracy and provides immediate, tangible benefits to the people, voters will reward democrats with majorities for at least a generation (see: The New Deal).

For an example of effective, fearless governance, see the record of progressive laws rammed through by Whitmer and the Michigan legislature did in a single year with a one vote majority in the legislature. Reproductive rights, labor rights, raising the minimum wage, etc.

It can be done, but only if we remove the instruments of obstruction: the filibuster and the Roberts court.
