Government is not for making peoples' lives miserable. Life is tough enough without the organized state using its powers to make it even more difficult.

Because one mentally ill person stole his way into a position of power, millions have to suffer.

It's not like I think we US citizens should be immune from bad government. It's often said that people get the government they deserve. To have not gotten trump, we would have had to enact a law that says no felons can be president. We never guessed the magnitude of his criminality, nor his abhorrence for being held accountable.

In many ways, this hideous experience has been a test of courage, where we have found so many to be abject failures.

Sidney Reid is not one of them.
